October 15 – Team Training
OCEAP members joined by Respond SAR at local trailer park to practice neighbourhood search skills. A number of members assigned to new roles for the day – Well done by all.
October 16 – Assist Port Hope Police
Members attended Presqu’ile Provincial Park to assist with the Red Run – 1k, 5k, 10k at the request of the Port Hope Police Service.

OCEAP is proud to announce that our Executive Officer, Colin Cackette received the SAR Award of Excellence in Leadership at the National Search and Rescue Conference in Edmonton, Alberta!

Summer 2016
The summer is a busy operational period for our OCEAP volunteers.
Cobourg Community Connections Expo
June 3-4th – OCEAP members were on site to promote our Volunteer Team!
CANADA DAY – July 1st
OCEAP members assisted Port Hope Police with road blocks for the parade. Immediately following the parade, members relocated to the Cobourg Waterfront Festival. OCEAP members covered all three days of the Festival assisting with missing person calls.

OCEAP assisting CPS at both the Sandbanks Provincial Park and Kingston events.

OCEAP announced the partnership with RESPOND Search and Rescue. Our organizations will work together to enhance the support we give our communities. Welcome!

OCEAP volunteers serving the communities of Port Hope and Cobourg!
May 1 – Assisting the Port Hope Police with road closures for the Battle of the Atlantic remembrance ceremony.
May 4 – Helping with McHappy Day 2016 raising funds to send local kids to camp. Members attended both Port Hope and Cobourg. Great Job!
May 6 – OCEAP volunteers have provided over 1,000 hours of community service already this year! An awesome commitment from our members.
May 14 – OCEAP members and our Command Post participating in Police Week at the Cobourg Police Station.
May 14-15 – OCEAP members updating their 1st Aid and CPR skills. The “Rescue” part of Search and Rescue.

April 16 – Float your Fanny down the Ganny was a great day – weather was beautiful and the crowds were out! Our volunteers attended at the request of Port Hope Police providing roving patrols and assisting with traffic around the pickup loading zone. Thanks to all.
April 16 – Two of our members participated in the Cops for Cancer at the Northumberland Mall. Nice cut guys!
April 23 – Night Search and Rescue training. Refresher of core SAR skills and then worked thru the twilight into the dark with no moon. Great effort from our volunteers!

February 20th – Field Training
Excellent training day in the Northumberland Forest! The session covered all of the basics; grid search, hasty search and first aid skills. Thanks to all members and trainers.
February 5th – MoU between OCEAP and CPS
Our special thanks to the Cobourg Police Service for their donation of rescue equipment to our Program. We look forward to expanding our support role with the Service in 2016!
