Our Volunteers
Volunteers are the heart of the OCEAP. Our volunteers provide their time and skills to help ensure that our communties are prepared in the event of a disaster or other local emergency.
Volunteers must be: - 19 years of age, - completed an equivalent of the OSSGD, - maintain first aid and cpr skills, and - capable of passing a criminal background check.

Skills and Experience
OCEAP gives civilian members of the public the opportunity to assist their community in a emergency support role. Roles for OCEAP members may include assistance with evacuation centers, support of the community emergency operations centre (EOC) or urban ground search and rescue.
Skills and experience are gained through a core training program, extensive field training and participation in community exercises and deployments.

All OCEAP members must participate in a minimum number of training hours each year. Members are also encouraged to attend as many OCEAP events as possible to maintain their skills. All new OCEAP members must complete a mandatory training program which comprises of classroom, online and field training.
